Trashghan is a hybrid musical instrument, score, and textile, made according to the traditional structure of an “Afghan,” but constructed from everyday plastic materials, which are often used in ASMR videos to create crinkling sounds. Re-used plastic, paper, foil, and thread, 2015.

Song-O-Phone generated thirty iterations of one song, through a game of internet "telephone." Collaborators received an mp3 by email, re-imagined the song within 24 hours, and passed their mp3 on to the next person. To present this work, I created a sampler in MaxMSP, enabling an ensemble to choose and trigger excerpts from different versions. This video score was used to signal the ensemble of 20 performers using the MaxMSP sampler when to trigger their excerpts.
Open String Study is a video presentation of the development of experimental techniques for exciting the harmonic overtones of a viola. These overtones feed back when performed in a resonant space, creating an independent and unpredictable sound field, experienced as a blurring between the musical instrument and its specific environment. 2014.
Pennyfarthing 5 is a continuation of my exploration of using media other than traditional music notation to encode sound events. Here, drummers Austin Vaughn and Carson Moody perform an intricate interlocking piece for two drummers, while their parts are represented on the screen in a format that references popular games like Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution, as well as the Synthesia format popular on YouTube. 2015
Dots and Loops is part of an ongoing investigation of mapping visual repetition onto sonic repetition. The score is adapted from knitting patterns notated in a grid, to be read from bottom to top, and horizontally back and forth. Dots and Loops deals with playing a style of music in the “wrong” context (electric guitars playing minimalist music in a club on a program with singer-songwriters); scoring for multiples of the same instrument/timbre, additive processes, and negotiation between open and predetermined pitch sets.
